Copyright Issues

Please read and make sure you understand this important information

Designer Entries

  • Designers own all the rights to their contest entries on this site. They are allowed to withdraw them at any time, unless they have won the contest and have been paid.
  • Once the winning designer has been paid, copyright ownership transfers to the contest holder.
  • Each designer is responsible for ensuring that his or her entries are significantly different from existing entries for a given contest.
  • Concepts and ideas mentioned in the contest holder’s contest brief is fair game for all designers. Contest holders are not allowed to update their brief based on an individual designer’s concept. This is against the Client Code of Conduct.
  • Any obvious concept is considered fair game for all designers. As an example, if a contest seeks a logo for a pet hospital, dogs and cats are considered obvious concepts. If a contest seeks a logo for an e-commerce site, a shopping bag or shopping cart is considered an obvious concept.

Suspected Copyright Infringement

This is extremely important. If you are a designer and suspect your work has been plagiarized, the first step you should take is to collect all data and send it to us. Then we will make a decision on what to do. Please understand that some similarities are unintentional, particularly when it comes to obvious concepts (such as dogs and cats in a logo for a pet hospital).
